Varium Altered Telephone Microphone & Rotary Stutter Box • GTE AE 1981
Altered GTE Automatic Electric Rotary Telephone from 1981 is now a lofi microphone with rotary stutter effect.
The handset speaker has been converted to a lo-fi microphone and moved to the mouth-piece position.
The rotary dial has been altered to be used as a rotary stutter effect - it sits the signal in and out as the dial rotates.
The switch hook is now an on/off switch so when you hang up the phone, the output is muted.
The phone body now has a 1/4" output jack - connect to any instrument level input (pedals, amps, di box).
Handset Microphone used like a regular telephone:
Earpiece - Empty
Mouthpiece - Contains the Mic
This mic is extremely lo-fi sounding and these types of vintage microphones can be susceptible to noise. Use extreme caution when connecting to amplifiers - it can quickly create feedback - turn the amp up slowly while talking into the mic.
One of a kind altered item.
