3M Desktop Microphone • XLR • 70s made in USA • Altered by Varium
Vintage 3M metal desktop microphone modified for modern use. Now has a male XLR connector cable. The switch on the bottom selects between push-to-talk and lift-to-talk operation.
Lift-to-talk is a unique feature where the microphone is normally muted when set down, but lifting it off the desk un-mutes the signal. This is achieved via pressure activated button on the bottom.
Push-to-talk operation is also normally muted, and pushing the big front button un-mutes the signal. The button can also be held down by the small black lever on the side for continuous use without having to push the button.
This microphone still has a distinct vintage character, but actually has better frequency response and a clearer sound as compared to other microphones of the era.
